Life in STEM: Tufts hires systems engineer Lauryn Spearing

Assistant Professor Lauryn Spearing joined Tufts University’s Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering this semester. Spearing obtained her bachelor’s degree, master’s degree and doctorate degree in civil engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and, she was an assistant professor at the University of Illinois Chicago before joining Tufts. The Daily sat down with Spearing to discuss her transition, research and goals.

Men’s squash falls to No. 9 Cornell in hard-fought match

Returning from Thanksgiving break, men’s squash welcomed Cornell University this past weekend. Tufts beat the University of Rochester 6–3 at home, leaving them with a record of 2–3 as of Nov. 23. The Big Red are ranked No. 9 while the Jumbos are ranked No. 10. The matchup was a highly intense game, with the Jumbos losing 8–1. Sophomore Rutva Samant secured the lone win for the Jumbos.

Tufts football takes down Middlebury 17–7

In a game packed with excitement, Tufts football ended its season with a winning record of 7–2 coming out of their most recent senior day win against Middlebury on Saturday. At the start of the game, Middlebury won the coin toss and deferred to Tufts, letting them receive the ball first.
