Medford considers ordinance protecting gender-affirming and reproductive healthcare

The Medford City Council Public Health and Community Safety Committee is reviewing an ordinance “securing the rights of individuals seeking gender-affirming care” in the city. The committee discussed the ordinance draft during a Feb. 4 meeting, voting to keep the draft in committee considering the lack of urgency on the state level and until it can undergo legal review. The legal review for the draft will be done by KP Law and will be completed later in the week.

First-year TCU Senators discuss new initiatives, student concerns

The TCU Senate is composed of student representatives across all years of Tufts’ student body. The most recent election introduced seven first-years to the Senate. Newly-elected senators Ashley Zhang, Logan Elie, Spencer Kluger, Gunnar Ivarsson, Jesse Kitumba, Shefali Bakre, Gracie Felsenthal, Naisha Luthra and Alexander Stone hosted a town hall on Monday, Nov. 10 as a welcoming space for students to air out their concerns and frustrations.

States to watch: 2024 presidential election

Pennsylvania’s history of switching between political parties makes it a critical state this year. President Joe Biden won the state in 2020 by less than 1.2%. Polling indicates that this state is even, leaning neither red nor blue. An average of Pennsylvania polling data showed a 0.2% lead in favor of former President Donald Trump, with statistics showing47.9% for Trump and 47.7% for Vice President Kamala Harris as of yesterday.

Tufts EWB discusses goals, upcoming plans for recently opened greenhouse near student garden

Tufts Engineers Without Borders is continuing to develop its mobile greenhouse, which opened in May 2024. Members of the club hope to give hands-on engineering experience to children from local elementary schools, Medford and Somerville residents and Tufts engineers. The club is a chapter of the worldwide organization Engineers Without Borders, which works with professional and aspiring engineers to construct projects within communities in need.
