Daily Digits

0-41   Converted goals off penalty-corner chances scored by the field hockey team during the NESCAC semifinals and finals this weekend. The Jumbos failed to capitalize on these opportunities during 149 minutes of play. While eking out a 1-0 win in OT against Trinity, Tufts' failure on offense contributed decisively to its 1-0 loss in the title game at the hands of Bowdoin Sunday on Bello Field.

1   At-large bids earned by NESCAC volleyball teams to the NCAA Div. III National Tournament this season. That bid went to the Jumbos after they stumbled against eventual champion Williams in the semifinal round of the NESCAC tourney Saturday. Based on the strength of its 28-3 regular season mark, Tufts successfully made its case to the selection committee.

0   Games won on the road by the football team this season. Following its 38-24 loss Saturday in Middlebury, Vt., Tufts' season ended with a mediocre .500 record. The Jumbos lost two of those games by a combined three-point margin. The 2008 campaign marked the first time since at least 1999 that the Jumbos failed to record a single road win.

104   Combined points scored by the Suns' Amare Stoudemire and the Spurs' Tony Parker Wednesday night. Stoudemire tallied 49, 11 rebounds and five steals, while Parker notched 55, 10 assists and seven rebounds as the Suns beat Indiana and the Spurs downed Minnesota. Parker is the NBA's second-leading scorer this season.

1   Rookie of the Year votes not cast for AL winner Evan Longoria or NL winner Geovany Soto for the 2008 MLB season. Longoria was the first unanimous winner in the junior circuit since Nomar Garciaparra in 1997; Soto captured 31 of 32 votes while the Reds' Joey Votto claimed the remaining first-place nod.

104   Yards that San Francisco return man Allen Rossum brought back the opening kickoff in the San Francisco 49ers' Monday Night Football game against the Arizona Cardinals. Rossum has led the Niners to the NFL's highest kick-return yardage total this season; they also led the league in that category in 2006 and were fifth last year.
