The Turf Monster: The NFL Draft was bittersweet and perfect

The NFL Draft has a weird place in my heart. As a die-hard football fan, it’s cool to see what moves teams make. It’s fun to learn some of the big college names and predict who’s gonna be a star. It’s great to see my favorite teams invest in their futures — especially when my Dallas Cowboys take the best receiver in the draft at pick number 17.

Op-ed: Can public health and politics be balanced in the WHO?

I will start off by stating that I disagree with Trump’sdecision to withdraw American funding from the World Health Organization (WHO). I believe the world must be united in combating COVID-19. However, I want to provide some context on the current director-general of the WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhanom, and how he and the WHO have made certain missteps inresponding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Take Care: what to do as the semester ends

After weeks of quarantines and stay-at-home orders, things might seem (relatively) hopeful for the summer. There’s vaccineprogress, social distancinghas helped save lives and it seems that the coronavirushas peaked in various countries. And while it might seem like a great time to begin returning to normal — whatever that means — thepush for some states to reopen is certainly worrisome. What about future peaks? Shouldn’t we focus on containing the virus rather than starting to reopen businesses and exposing more people?

NBA goes back to basketball's roots

As ESPN NBA commentator Mark Jones best put it, the NBA HORSE Challenge was the NBA’s well-intentioned attempt to continue “keeping score” during the sports hiatus caused by the coronavirus. Jones was also a commentator for this challenge, mediating over a select group of eight seasoned professional basketball players playing a traditional playground game on the nights of April 12 and 16.

Editorial: Tufts must continue trend of empathy for students in face of new academic challenges

Since the university’s March 10decision to suspend in-person classes for the remainder of the semester, our community dispersed across the globe to commence online learning. As a result, our academic and social environments immensely changed, thus requiring rapid adaptations from students, faculty and the administration. As our community enters the final month of classes, we must acknowledge the university’s important work to respond to student input and efficiently move our university online while remaining empathetic to the ongoing issues of the new system.
