Tyler Maher | Beantown Beat

With the New England Patriots coming off a bye week and their season more than half over, it feels like a good time to take stock in the team's current standing. They're 7-2, leading the AFC East and likely postseason-bound. In that sense, it's been a typical Patriots season.

Breakfast on Pluto" (2005) follows the life of Patrick "Kitten" Braden, a young trans-woman living in a small town just south of the Republic-Northern Ireland border. The film was written and directed by Neil Jordan, who also wrote and directed "The Crying Game," (1992), which I reviewed last week and which similarly explores gender identity. While I was somewhat conflicted about "The Crying Game," I wholeheartedly love "Breakfast on Pluto."

A cappella scene keeps traditions, breaks new ground

A cappella has exploded as an iconic collegiate symbol over the past several years, and Tufts is no exception. With a cappella's long history on the Hill, there is much to celebrate on campus. Petar Todorov | Lab Notes

Dinosaurs occupy a special place in the mind of every kid who grew up in the 1990s. Jurassic Park brought them back from the dead. Michael Crichton, who wrote the original novel, is often praised for making this process believable. Until recently, most people, including scientists, would have stated that cloning an ancient life form from preserved tissue would be theoretically possible, albeit in the realm of science fiction. We may have even expected it until MortenAllentoft of the University of Cambridge noted that DNA has a half-life of about 500 years; as a result, DNA from 68 million years ago when dinosaurs walked the Earth is long gone. But there is hope for other animals.

Aaron Leibowitz | The Fan

It's no one's fault that the NFL as we know it will be extinct in 20 years. The players are just now starting to learn the full extent of the game's dangers, and for most of them, the money and fame and ability to play a game for a living are too much to pass up.

Eloise Libre | Frankly Candid

I have a theory that if you have an unusual name, you are more likely to be successful in life. I have no empirical evidence of this, nor do I have any background in statistical research. As an observant layperson, all I know is that the Eccentric Name Theory is overwhelmingly supported and true.

Envision this: students taking yoga classes around campus, performing scenes from plays, body painting and much more - naked. While it may sound impossible, it's not.
