Letter to the Editor regarding El Tit op-ed

On behalf of the TCU Judiciary (TCUJ), I would like to respond to Madeline Bacchus' March 2 op-ed "El Tit fills the gap other publications can't."In determining the recognition status of new and existing groups on campus, the TCUJ relies on a stringent set of bylaws that require, among other criteria, three proofs of activity and being active on campus for at least a semester. When El Tit applied for recognition this past fall, they did not meet some of these criteria and therefore the TCUJ was obliged to vote not to recognize them. However, I absolutely agree with Madeline's assessment that El Tit is an "important and necessary" voice on campus. The TCUJ strongly encourages El Tit to re-apply for recognition next fall, when it is able to fulfill all of the requirements for recognition with what I am sure will be hilarious and flying colors.
