Garcia for president

I've been around for two presidential campaigns and active in both of them. Now, as I approach my third, I'm seeing something unique among all of them. I've had the opportunity to support some great people over the years, like Chas Morrison and Sam Wallis, and, as it was with those candidates, I'm happy to see that Tomas Garcia has been running a solid campaign worthy of this university.

So what's different? When I read Tomas' campaign platform, I saw something I'd never seen before. It was clear to me that Tomas had taken the time to talk to members of the Tufts Community Union (TCU) Senate and campus leaders −− and incorporate what he'd been hearing into a vision for the university next year. This isn't a dream about what Tomas and his team think Tufts should be; this is just a refined list of the very best ideas on what to do for Tufts. And we Jumbos care about our school, so there are a lot of good ideas.

I know what it means to help lead student groups. I know what it means to meet a budget. I know what it means to have constituents, having served on the TCU Judiciary and Senate. And just as I've always looked for candidates who have the right balance of experience and ability to listen, I think I've found one this year in Tomas Garcia. Like every good TCU presidency, this one should be about empowering students while still providing solid leadership and guidance for the body that is the TCU Senate.

I'm confident that Tomas will be able to do so.
