Police Briefs — March 29

Stolen Jacket

Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) received a report of a stolen jacket from the Steve Tisch Sports and Fitness Center at 5:20 p.m. on March 16. The student reported that she entered the fitness center, put her jacket in a cubby and discovered it was gone when she returned. Her wallet and keys, which were in the jacket pocket, were also missing.

Fire Alarm

TUPD and the Somerville Fire Department responded to a fire alarm that went off at 144 Professors Row at 12:45 a.m. on March 18. A released fire extinguisher triggered the alarm. When they checked the area, no fire was found and they called for a panel reset.

Displaced Stop Sign

TUPD saw three males and one female physically remove a stop sign from the corner of Professors Row and Packard Avenue at 1:20 a.m. on March 18. The officers approached the group, who then took off running and left the stop sign behind. Facilities Services has replaced the stop sign.

Fire Alarm

TUPD and the Somerville Fire Department responded to a fire alarm that went off at Latin Way at 9:30 p.m. on March 23. A student had attempted to cook a large pot of maple syrup sap, which had activated the alarm. When they checked the area, no fire was found and they called for a system reset.
