Police Briefs

Miss Lonelyhearts At 11:16 p.m. on Feb. 14, the Tufts University Police Department (TUPD) responded to a report of a strong odor of marijuana emanating from a room in Miller Hall. Upon arrival, the officers observed a towel wedged under the room door, a trick often used by marijuana smokers to prevent the smoke from leaving their room, according to TUPD. When the officers knocked on the door, a student opened the door and admitted to her guilt in a cooperative fashion. She subsequently gave the TUPD officers a small amount of marijuana along with two glass pipes and a lighter. There was no one else with her in the room at the time.

Schrödinger's Beer At 12:06 a.m. on Feb. 15, TUPD officers observed two female students walking along Professors Row carrying open containers of beer. When the officers ordered them to stop, the students made eye contact with them but continued to walk. Eventually the officers approached the students, who denied that they were in possession of beer. After some questioning, they admitted that they were in fact carrying beer. The students were laughing throughout the entire incident. A report was written and sent to the Dean of Student Affairs' office. The beer was subsequently confiscated and disposed of by TUPD.
