The array of artistic abilities that sophomore, and undeclared computer science and Japanese major, Fury Sheron possesses is truly impressive. Her artistic pursuits on campus range from visual art, to music, to fire spinning. It would seem that there are very few constraints on her artistic exuberance.
The most publicly visible examples of Sheron’s work are, arguably, the cartoons that she produces for the Daily each week. Sheron’s comically illustrated commentary on campus life has won her regular praise. Her most recent work lampooned the state of wifi at Tufts.
Sheron also performs with a variety of on-campus musical ensembles, both as a vocalist and instrumentalist. Sheron plays alto saxophone for the Pep Band, a group which performs at various events on campus, including home football games and the Hanukkah menorah lighting ceremony. Sheron also sings on campus as a member of the concert choir.
Sheron is a member of Tufts Jumbo Jugglers, a group she joined through sheer serendipity.
“I found some Jumbo Jugglers spinning in the daytime my first week I was here," Sheron told the Daily via Facebook message. "[I] just pulled out my poi [a ball of woven flax used in Maori dances] and met some of the people I'm still friends with today."
Sheron is also taking Introduction to Game Development this semester, which will almost certainly open up new avenues of creative expression. Who knows where her artistic talents will take her next?
