Kaleidoscope: An Open-Genre Battle of the Bands featuringThe Rare Occasions at Berklee Performance Center: Come see Tufts alumni band The Rare Occasions compete in a Battle of the Bands at Berklee Performance Center. The band is competing against Kyle Thornton & The Company, Arreanna Jaye, Full Effect, Zaid Tabani and Sound Struggles. First, second and third place prize packages are awarded, and all prize packages include a headlining show at the Red Room @ Cafe 939, promotions from the BIRN, recording time at the Record Company and a mix session from Notable Productions. (Tonight at 8 p.m. at Berklee Performance Center, 136 Mass. Avenue, Boston, Mass. 02115. Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 on the day of the show. Tickets are on sale online.)

Improv Asylum: Main Stage Show:  Improv Asylum performs its signature Friday night show that combines improv segments and sketches for a night of comedy. Some of Boston’s best comedians will be performing work that comments on modern family life, social media and gender roles. (Tonight at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. at Improv Asylum at 216 Hanover St., Boston, Mass. 02113. Tickets range from $20-27 and can be purchased online.)

Tufts University Art Gallery Create Date: Adobe Creative Suite Workshop: Come learn useful tools to create beautiful works using Adobe Creative Suite. The workshop will feature demos in programs like PhotoShop and other programs from the Adobe Creative Cloud. (Tonight at 6 p.m. in the Tufts University Art Gallery. Admission is free. No tickets required.)

Taste of Iceland in Boston: Come to the five-day festival to celebrate the food, music, art and culture of Iceland. The event features diverse activities like an authentic Icelandic meal at Tavern Road (343 Congress Street, Boston, Mass. 02210), prepared by Icelandic chef Viktor Örn Andrésson Friday March 13 - Monday March 16; Reykjavik Calling Concert at The Middle East Restaurant and Nightclub (472-480 Mass. Ave, Cambridge, Mass. 02139) on March 14 and an Icelandic film festival on March 14 at Kendall Square Cinema.
