Dinner and a Movie presents "Maleficent" (2014): Come to the Women’s Center to discuss gender roles and tropes in film and literature in a modern context. Discussion will be led by Shannon Weber, sociology and women’s, gender and sexuality studies lecturer and Steph Gauchel, director of the Women’s Center. Dinner will be served. (Tonight starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Women’s Center. Admission is free.)Torn Ticket II presents "She Loves Me" (1963): Join Torn Ticket II for its fall production of “She Loves Me,” a play about “mistaken identity and letter writing,” set in a 1930s European perfumery. (Tonight, Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in Balch Arena Theater. Tickets are free and are available from the Balch Arena Box Office.)Kiniwe: Kiniwe, the African music and dance ensemble, will be performing a selection of music and dance pieces from a variety of traditions, including Ashanti, Ewe and Dagomba. Professor Attah Poku will be making his inaugural directorial performance with this production and will be assisted by Ben Paulding, a graduate student in ethnomusicology. Innovative costume work will be a highlight of the show and the group will be joined by the Agbekor Drum and Dance society, founded by Professor David Locke. (Friday at 8 p.m. in Distler Performance Hall. Admission is free. No tickets required.)Tufts Jazz Orchestra presents "As Long as I’m Singing": Tufts Jazz Orchestra (TJO) is celebrating the “voice” that is integral to jazz music while drawing on different jazz musical traditions, styles and influences. TJO will be performing selections from the Great American Songbook as well as funk and Afro-Cuban jazz pieces. Joel LaRue Smith will direct the show and Bill Lowe will be featured as a guest artist on the trombone. (Saturday at 8 p.m. in Goddard Chapel. Admission is free. No tickets required.)
