Tinashe, Quinn XCII and Hot Chelle Rae will perform at Spring Fling, the Tufts University Social Collective announced on Wednesday. The concert will take place on April 26 at 12:30 p.m. on the Academic Quad.
The headliner, Tinashe Jorgensen Kachingwe, who performs just under her first name, is known for hit songs “Nasty” and “2 On (feat. ScHoolboy Q).” She also recently appeared on the song “B2b featuring tinashe” from Charli XCX’s remix album “Brat and it’s completely different but also still brat.” Tinashe previously headlined Spring Fling in 2017, though she was originally set to be an opener. She stepped in after T-Pain cancelled due to the performance conflicting with his son’s birthday.
Seniors Josh Wise and Jade Altschul Matushenko, TUSC’s live entertainment coordinators, announced this year’s lineup as one of the most anticipated and varied in genre of the past several years.
“I’m really happy with this year’s Spring Fling lineup. I may be biased, but it’s definitely my favorite in the four years I’ve been at Tufts,” Wise wrote in a statement to the Daily.
The strength of this year’s lineup comes not only from Tinashe’s hip-hop and R&B tracks, but also from Hot Chelle Rae’s 2010s pop throwbacks and Quinn XCII’s more laidback pop. With a diverse setlist, everyone can expect to find something to dance to at the TUSC event.
Hot Chelle Rae may provide a true nostalgic moment for Tufts students with their 2011 hits “Tonight Tonight” and “I Like It Like That (feat. New Boyz).” With an American pop-rock sound, the Tennessee band has stayed true to their alternative rock nature with their recent singles, including “Kids” in 2023.
Quinn XCII’s hit songs include a collaboration with MAX “Love Me Less (feat. Quinn XCII)” and “Another Day in Paradise.” Known for his ability to blend different genres of music from rap to pop to soul, he is sure to breathe fresh air into the venue.
“I am so excited for this year’s spring fling! All three acts add a different vibe that will create a fun, high energy event,” Altschul Matushenko wrote.
In addition to Spring Fling, TUSC's spring carnival, Tuftonia’s Day, will be hosted on April 5 at 5 p.m. on the Fletcher Field.
