Tufts University's three campuses closed Tuesday and Wednesday due to Winter Storm Juno, a blizzard that the National Weather Service reports brought as much as two feet of snow to the region.
A second email alerting the community to Wednesday's closing went out at 6:33 p.m. tonight, noting that select services, including the Mayer Campus Center, Tisch Library and the Tisch Sports and Fitness Center, will resume operation on Wednesday.
The closure came as a response to a regional blizzard warning issued by the National Weather Service on Monday, which predicted up to 30 inches of snow falling between 7 p.m. that evening and 1 a.m. Wednesday, according to Deputy Director of Public and Environmental Safety and Director of Emergency Management Geoffrey Bartlett.
In an email sent out to the Tufts community, the university also announced that early release of staff would be permitted after 3 p.m. on Monday at the discretion of supervisors. Monday afternoon classes continued until 6 p.m. in the School of Engineering, School of Arts and Sciences and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, after which all classes were cancelled.
Two facilities on the Grafton campus, The Foster Hospital for Small Animals and the Hospital for Large Animals, and the Tufts Dental Afternoon Clinic on the Boston campus remained open throughout the inclement weather. Further updates can be found here.
