"Empire and Its Discontents," an art exhibit in the Tufts Art Gallery in Aidekman Arts Center, celebrated its opening last night. The exhibit pays tribute to the 30th anniversary of "Orientalism," written by Palestinian-American activist Edward Said. His book confronts the concept of a universal, Eastern ideology, which he identifies as simply a construct of powerful Western nations.
