Jumbos play to scoreless tie in another 2OT match

In the past 220 minutes of play, the men's soccer team has not recorded a win.

With yesterday's 0-0 tie against the host New England College Pilgrims, the men's soccer team found itself winless in its second consecutive double overtime contest. The match served as Tufts' first 0-0 tie since Oct. 2, 1999, when the Jumbos fought Bates to a standstill.

Senior tri-captain Dave McKeon tallied four saves defending the net for Tufts in the contest, earning his third shutout in four games this season. NEC goalkeeper sophomore Pat Harkin posted six saves for the Pilgrims.

Both offenses played virtually toe-to-toe, as Tufts notched 10 shots on goal after 90 minutes versus the Pilgrims' nine. Each squad had managed just one additional shot on goal following the two subsequent 10-minute periods.

With the tie, the Jumbos' record now stands at 2-1-1, while NEC moved to 3-2-1 for the year.

Tufts also fell in the waning moments of the second overtime Saturday against the Colby Mules, losing by a score of 2-1.
