Puerto Rican playwright speaks on culture

Playwright Myrna Casas spoke in Olin Hall yesterday at a lecture sponsored by the Deptartment of Romance Languages, the Latino Center and the Charles Smith Lecture Fund.

Casas is an influential Puerto Rican artist whose work often reflects her heritage. She discussed her past work as well as changes in modern Puerto Rican theater. The playwright also acts, directs and produces; she is one of the founders of Producciones Cisne, a Puerto Rican theater company that is still active after its inception in the 1960s. Some of her published plays include: "Eugenia Victoria Herrera," "Fools Alone" and "San Juan Impromptu." - Diana Landes
