Silverman elected as new Senate treasurer in internal elections

Sophomore Scott Silverman officially took the reins from former Tufts Community Union (TCU) Treasurer Evan Dreifuss during a series of elections at yesterday's TCU Senate meeting.

The senate voted to make sophomore C.J. Mourning the chair of Council II of the Allocations Board (ALBO), junior Matt Shapanka the chair of the Education Committee and Silverman the TCU treasurer. There were no speeches, and all three senators ran unopposed.

The treasurer position opened last week when Dreifuss, a senior, resigned from the TCU Senate for medical reasons. Silverman previously was chair of Council II of ALBO.

ALBO is responsible for allocating the money generated by the student activities fee, and Council II specifically oversees funding of programming groups on campus. The TCU treasurer chairs ALBO.

The Education Committee chairmanship became available when the previous chair, senior Amanda Richardson, resigned from the senate last week.

Richardson had run for the TCU presidency last year, but she came in second place to the current president, junior Neil DiBiase.
